I didn’t think it was possible, but I’ve found a sliver of common ground with Marjorie Taylor Greene—on this specific issue, at least.

Never say never: there is always hope! 🤝✨

Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@FmrRepMTG) on X

The United States of America is a sovereign nation. Section 224 of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act must be removed. Our military should not be integrated in any capacity with a foreign country’s military. Nor should we be funding it.

U.S. Suspends Key Defense Forum | Pierre Poutine🇨🇦🇺🇦🇵🇸#NAFOfella

🧵 - 1/10 🚨 - BIG NEWS TODAY: The U.S. just suspended the Permanent Joint Board on Defense (PJBD) — the oldest Canada-U.S. defence forum, created in 1940. Under Secretary Elbridge Colby cited “Canada’s failure to make credible progress” on defence commitments, referencing PM Carney’s Davos speech. But here’s the irony… this could end up costing American jobs. 🇺🇸💼 #Canada #US #Defence #NATO #Jobs #Military

🧵 - 10/10

Bottom line:

Canada is building sovereignty and a domestic defence industry. The U.S. just gave us an even stronger case to keep those dollars at home 🇨🇦💰

American taxpayers and defence workers are the ones who lose when billions stop flowing south 📉

Who benefits from this?
Not U.S. industry.
Not NORAD integration.

What do you think: smart strategy or own-goal? 🤔

Irony alert: The U.S. pauses the border, claiming Canada isn’t doing enough…

…right as Canada is spending more than ever, but deliberately redirecting money away from U.S. companies.

This move doesn’t force Canada to buy more American gear — it gives Carney every reason to buy less.

Self-own. 🤦‍♂️🇨🇦🇺🇸

This isn’t abstract.

The U.S. defence industry has long counted on Canada as a reliable, high-value customer.

Now, that integrated North American defence-industrial base is fracturing.

American workers in aerospace, shipyards, and munitions lose out, while Canadian (and European) firms gain. 🇺🇸➡️🇨🇦🇪🇺

Economic hit to the USA, in straight numbers : 🇺🇸💸

Defence capital spending is growing fast with the $63B+ budget 🛡️

Even a 10–20% shift away from U.S. suppliers could mean hundreds of millions to billions in lost annual revenue for american contractors 📉

Over a decade? that’s real money leaving U.S. factories, supply chains, and paycheques in key states ⏳

So what does today’s PJBD suspension actually do?

It signals deep distrust and cuts off a key coordination channel.

Ottawa gets political cover to accelerate the “Buy Canadian” pivot even harder 🇨🇦📌

Result? More procurement dollars that used to go to U.S. firms now stay in Canada or shift to Europe 💸➡️🇨🇦🇪🇺

🧵 - 5/10

Capital procurement (the “weapons budget”) is exploding as overall spending rises.

Canada is deliberately diversifying:
- domestic builds plus European, UK, and Indo-Pacific partners 🤝
- no longer defaulting to the U.S. 🇨🇦➡️🌍

Major platforms will still involve some U.S. participation in the short term, but the policy is clear: reduce reliance. 📉

🧵 - 4/10

Carney ended that era.

February 2026 Defence Industrial Strategy: “Buy Canadian by default.”

Goal: 70% of federal defence contracts going to Canadian firms within 10 years (up from ~43%).

$6.6 billion in new investment to:
- triple industry revenue 📈
- boost exports by 50% 🌍
- create ~125,000 jobs 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️
