Just published the the 0.35.0 version of the Rust sysinfo crate (used to get system information).

It comes with improvements, bugfixes and new API:

System::open_files_limit, Process::kill_and_wait and Process::kill_with_and_wait.

Enjoy!

Because freedom doesn’t means it’s free…

I've just tested Fedilab and noticed, that there are "threads" in Fedilab. It shows which message is an answer to which message using colored lines. Now I'm wondering why there aren't any other services, like mastodon web, tusky, etc. that display that information. Are there any other apps that display that?
Interesting read for anyone interested in cryptography. https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2022/08/nists-post-quantum-cryptography-standards.html
I've found this in the "Schneier on Security" Blog. Also available in RSS form. Does anyone have any other great RSS feeds? And what feed reader would you recommmend on mobile?

@selea I just noticed that social.linux.pizzza has a new Favicon! That is very cool! 👍  🏆

I'm one of the newcomers from Twitter (was on mastodon\.host a few years ago, but it seems to have disappeared)

Am a *nix geek really (hence the username), obviously now doing more cloud stuff to stay alive.

You may know me from www.shellscript.sh, or possibly from the more Bash-focussed "Shell Scripting: Expert Recipes" book which is, well, more aimed at book-buyers, as it happens....

Anyway, glad to be here on social.linux.pizza, hope to be a bit more active!

The GPL and AGPL are the best free software licenses

I recently looked at Peertube, since I already use Mastodon, and would like a non blockchain based alternative to Odysee. Sadly, on joinpeertube.org I found only "bad" servers. Either filled with porn, too small and very spamy.

Does anyone know a good instance that I can check out? I'm looking for something with Tech(Linux, Privacy, FOSS) and maybe education (not as important). Thanks a lot

What is the best privacy ROM? Excluding 'exclusive' ROMs only available on Pixel devices or course.
I have thought about using Lineage again, but they don't have a version for my phone yet. Thanks a lot!
