#Dishonored2 is installing as we speak. Hopefully it'll be enjoyable without having played through the first game!

I am not blind, but I've actually really enjoyed reading image descriptions here over the past few days. It's fascinating to learn how other people perceive and describe images. Some people pay close attention to colors, angle, mood, and so on. It's quite eye-opening.
I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.
A walk to my favorite fairy ring looking for inspiration. I have written very little in the last few weeks. So many swirling ideas but struggling to find ways to get them on paper #writing #Shetland #fairy

Fascinating! I don't know if you were on Twitter, but due to the heavy focus on celebrity there, I rarely stumbled upon such interesting people. That or there was just no concept of #introduction posts.

I find I'm drawn back here because it feels so much more human and real. Thank you for your detailed posts!

#Museum30 Day 2 - ‘Who Am I?'
Well, instead of repeating my #introduction (see my pinned toots), I'd like to talk a bit about how I became a #herbarium #curator a the #NHMLondon.
I am 1st generation #academic. I went to a state school in East Berlin, and I grew up without access to a garden, real nature or a lot travel. Not really what you'd expect, right? However, I had an interest in #biology and #history (but also chemistry and astronomy). I am quite curious and I really like #diversity.

Thank you for putting together these steps. I joined when I didn't understand the concept of instances, so I'd be happy to migrate elsewhere now. I just needed the confidence of knowing the steps to take.

If you have issues with your Mastodon account and are on mastodon.social, take these steps:
1. Go to https://instances.social/ & do the wizard
2. Select any instance that pops up that looks nice to you
3. Create an account there
4. Set up an account alias by going to Settings -> Account -> Account Settings -> Moving from a different account
5. Move your account by going to https://mastodon.social/settings/migration

The #Fediverse is distributed, you don't need to be on the most popular instance to participate.

Mastodon instances

Hi all! Like any good zooarch, I’m interested to see what becomes of the Mastodon migration.

Quick #introduction : I’m an Australian archaeologist with a day job managing an #archaeology lab (currently on parental leave) and research interests in #zooarchaeology (mostly mammals and fish), #OpenScience and data sovereignty, pedagogy, and #scicomm
