Portugal, a country where medical doctors (specialists with 6 years of medical school + ~5 years of internship) take home around 1900€/month, have horrid working conditions are utterly disrespected by the government and "forced" to work an insane number of extra hours are today on strike, but fear not, our great leader, as always, came to the rescue, and announced this:
1. Issues a number of measures that in practice do very little to improve their working conditions and add even more extra hours, but are catchy enough to appear to and more importantly to with careful propaganda shift the public opinion against health professionals, or as our great leader calls them cowards.
2. Will hire doctors from Cuba, a great deal where professionals receive around 20% of the value paid by Portugal while the Cuban government receives 80%, bonus fact since their passports are removed from them by a Cuban official on arrival and are closely watched by Cuban security officials they won't speak a word about bad working conditions and lack of means like all victims of human trafficking.
It could be worse I guess, they could be nurses, those take home around 1000€ a month.
It really is a mystery why health professionals leave the country
A good piece about how this business works
