I like wildlife photography and woodworking. Both I pursue in my free time. All photos I share are my own. All woodworking builds I share are my own.

Grimy Reaper.

I carved this little figurine from some pallet wood I had lying around. The inspiration hit after seeing one of @ralphruthe’s cartoons (https://troet.cafe/@ralphruthe/115467773867988131). I couldn’t resist bringing the character to life in wood.

Vintage-style salt box, made from Syzygium luehmannii (small-leaved Lilly Pilly) timber from our own backyard hedge.

We cut part of the hedge back, milled a few boards from it, and let them air-dry for about a year. Once the timber was ready, I turned one of those boards into this salt box.

A practical #woodworking project I finally finished last year.
I built a shoebox from #palletwood. The box is slim to reduce the footprint. When storms hit and the wind picks up, our shoes used to get soaked. Now they’re protected from the elements — and the area looks much tidier too.

Moderate Autism
Level 2

And yet..
this is autism that requires substantial support.
Every. Single. Day.
Support in regulation.
Support in communication.
Support in navigating a world that wasn't built for them.
Your child isn't "bad."
You aren't failing.
And autism doesn't have to look a certain way to be very much real.

Part 2 of 2

#autism #level2autism

This is not mine but I can so relate to it as it calls true for my daughter:

Moderate autism.
Level 2.

It's where strangers can tell something is ditterent..
but because your child may be somewhat verbal, they assume it's poor parenting.
It's where meltdowns are mistaken for misbehavior. Where sensory overload is labeled as
"spoiled." Where regulation is expected instead of supported.
It's autism that isn't "invisible" enough to be ignored and isn't "severe enough" to be believed.
Part 1 of 2

@eyesquash use a router circle jig to make a template of the circle you need. Then align it with the hole and use a flush trim bit to make the hole bigger.
