My friend Shakoure has had to wear an ankle bracelet for three years and the justice system has no solid explanation as to why. Join his legal team and supporters at a screening and discussion this Wednesday. Let's come together to #FreeShakoure. Thank you for sharing, Everyone!

NOVEMBER 8TH, 6-8PM @new York University https://tinyurl.com/KeepShakoureHome

RSVP - Keep Shakoure Home: A Lifelong New Yorker’s Experiences with the Parole, Crimmmigration, and Pardon Systems

Please join EPIC for a documentary screening of “23 Reasons Why 23 Years Is Enough,” a documentary about Shakoure Charpentier’s experiences leading up to his parole. Shakoure is a community leader who faces deportation to a country he has never been to because of his birth on a U.S. military base. His deportation risk stems from a conviction from three decades ago involving one of the police officers from the Central Park 5 case. Following the screening, Shakoure, filmmaker and activist Deirdre Sinnott, and members of the Clemency Justice Coalition will discuss the arrest-to-deportation pipeline and how pardons can support community members like Shakoure and keep families together. Date and Time: Wednesday, November 8 from 6-8pm Location: Vanderbilt Hall Room 206 (40 Washington Square South, New York, NY 10002) Food will be served. For any questions, please contact Thao Ho via email at [email protected]. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Race, Inequality, and the Law and the following NYU student organizations: Asian Pacific Allied Law Students Association, American Constitution Society, Black Allied Law Students Association, Defender Collective, Immigrant Refugee Assistance Project, Latinx Law Students Association, and Suspension Representation Project.
