GROWING ONIONS & GARLIC OVER WINTER
I started my Japanese overwintering onions and garlic in module trays, now they're ready to plant out. I generally space them 15cm (6") between each bulb, in double rows 30cm (12") apart. Buried to a depth where only the top of the pointed end is just showing above ground, they work themselves up as they grow so by the end of the season most of the bulb is visible. I'll be putting enviromesh over them for the entire growing period to protect them from pests.
