It's been 7 years. I had tickets to see LP then, Chester died just a few weeks out from our stop. I thought I'd forever missed an opportunity to see one of my favorite bands live.

Just got my tickets for '25! Won't be the same without Chester but I'll be happy to check this off the bucket list.

Update: All is forgiven
Stormy had a dental cleaning today. Greys have absolutely awful teeth. Thankfully hers were better than normal, no extractions or problems! Not bad for a senior grey. Now if only she'll forgive me for tricking her into going to the vet, AGAIN!

I bought a random Apple Newton serial adapter on eBay for a messagepad 2100 I picked up a while ago, and it showed up factory sealed. I wasn't expecting that.

I kinda feel bad to open it now...

This is an absolutely ridiculous setup (thanks Apple for just 2 USB C ports on MacBooks and only a COMBO aux jack!) but I somehow got all the software and dongles together for a working 3ds capture setup on my M1 MacBook Air.

I think I'll save this for a last resort though...

I need a bigger desk again.

Up and running! CD drive is still a bit sticky on the eject mechanism, but it seems to be bad tolerances, not bad lubrication. It works 85% of the time, and for the rest a little percussive maintenance gets it done. I'll probably seek out a replacement at some point but not any time soon. What a pain to get to that drive!

By the way, 'member USB 1.1?

I 'member...

Fun fact - apparently some of these old iMac G4's don't have a manual eject for the optical drive? I had to take mine apart to get it unstuck - it jammed during transport.

Not-so-fun-fact: it's really grimy in here. I'm glad I had to open it, this fan really needs help!

I do need this CD drive to work too, I can't get it to boot from a USB optical or flash drive.

Shame it isn't a superdrive but it appears to be a base 700mhz G4, maybe I should upgrade the drive later. Model recommendations?

Apparently I'm an Apple collector now. I only really wanted the G4 and the cinema display, but this was all being sold as a lot, so...

I think I need a bigger desk...or maybe just a few more desks?
