Welcome to our team, Prof. Uta Schirpke!

Uta will lead our chair as acting professor over the coming year, collaborating with us on research and teaching.

โ›ฐ๏ธ Across 4 countries & 1,500 km, our students experienced how humans have reshaped the eastern Alps: exploring melting glaciers, historic mercury mines, rebuilt mountain towns and coastal protection.

Quรฉbec plans to run fully on renewables by 2050 - even though electricity demand is expected to double. But on our 4,600 km excursion we saw that this transition is anything but simple:

Massive dams provide clean power, but flood Cree lands. At the end, our students realized energy choices are about balancing tech, ecology & justice ๐ŸŒโšก๏ธ

We had a fantastic time at ESA's Living Planet Symposium #LPS25 in Vienna! This year, it was all about how we can use remote sensing for improving #ClimateAction and #sustainability. Our team presented work on improving seasonal crop yield forecasts, mapping nitrogen, biomass, and forest carbon using satellite data, models, and AI. A big step towards better land management and food security.
