4/ As exports of affected products to the EU become less competitive, producers may face aggregated forgone revenue from diverted trade, accumulating up to USD 800 million in VNM and ~USD 500 million in IDN and THA each. The Philippines is likely to be much less impacted.

3/âš« Apple aims to transition the entire supply chain to renewable energy by 2030 and offers direct support to suppliers to guarantee high-quality electricity procurement

âš« Samsung claims to support suppliers with incentives to decarbonise but is vague about how it will help them use more renewable energy in the future

âš« Foxconn supports suppliers in transitioning to renewable energy, but it relies on low-quality Renewable Energy Certificates

2/ However, the support must focus on high-quality renewable procurement, as Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) do not contribute to higher renewable capacity.

While Apple, Samsung and Foxconn pledge to support their suppliers, not all their support is actually meaningful:

1/ Electricity-related emissions are a relevant emissions source for all companies to address and represent a key component of many companies’ climate change strategies and pledges.

The electronics companies we assessed in our 2023 Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor (➡️ https://bit.ly/NewClimate_CCRM2023) have made interesting developments, like providing support to suppliers to fully transition to renewable electricity.
