The playbook hasn’t changed: create tension → stage or exaggerate an incident → flood the media → legislate “safety.” What begins with street theatre ends with laws. And those laws rarely roll back.

September 2025 may not be remembered for the marches themselves, but for how they’re spun. Protest is human. Control is theatre. No grey area.

We’ve seen this script before. Live 8 promised unity on 2 July 2005. Just days later, 7/7 buried it under fear. That tragedy reset the agenda, reaffirming endless conflict in the Middle East. The 2003 Iraq invasion — pushed not only by Washington and Westminster but by Netanyahu — was sold on existential fear. The result was war, chaos, and broken trust.

Read on for part 5:

Two demos, five days apart, create a political gift. For the right: “lawlessness.” For the establishment left: “provocateurs.” Different motives, same outcome — fuelling calls for surveillance, control, and the digital ID infrastructure waiting in the wings.

Read on for part 4:

Not fear of protest itself, but fear of the incident waiting to be staged. A spark, a clash, a single headline that justifies the next clampdown.

We’ve already seen the street theatre. A man folding his scooter into a car, wired with an earpiece. A cyber grad jogger with pad and pencil. A leather-jacket stare-down on the pavement. If this happens in Manchester side streets, imagine it in central London under global cameras.

Read on for part 3:

“Digital IDs Don’t Start in Parliament. They Start on the Pavement.”

Next week London hosts two mass demonstrations: Stand Up To Racism’s march against Tommy Robinson on 13 Sept, and the Stop Trump Coalition’s protest on 17 Sept. Both are billed as defiant, diverse, and necessary. But what many feel is not excitement — it’s fear.

Harassment isn’t counter-terror.
Suspicion isn’t protection.
Staring down citizens in public doesn’t make anyone safer — Only spreads fear.

'Cyber graduates’ are taught to blur lines between safety v surveillance, it isn’t protection — it’s harassment in Lycra.

Cyber lies don’t change the law.
Marking neighbours is still illegal.

No grey area
Marking people is illegal.

#AuditGenX they are trying to tangle millenials/ z's into their mess. #StreetTheatre #cybersecurity #boomeraccountability

“We were told the war on terror was about safety. Instead, it’s turned into neighbour vs. neighbour, citizen vs. citizen — a theatre of intimidation played out on our own streets.

Is this Russia 2.0?
Or just state-sanctioned bullying with baby seats in the back?

Snitches don’t keep us safe — they just keep us watched.”*

Part Two – Update
29 Aug: DBT doubled down, sending only a short email with the Ombudsman’s address.
This week: I sent a recorded mail submission to the Ombudsman, with Annex A on the personal impact of the governance gap.
Andrew Western MP has been emailed a version too, with 2 asks: DBT to do their job + Unite to face scrutiny.

The weaponisation of Cyber against the public?
War on terror or protection for the 1%?
You decide.

My Closing Reflection
Here’s where I land. Hate spreads. Once you light that spark and give it authority in the name of country or righteousness, it doesn’t stop at Muslims. It widens — to trans people, gay people, other religions, anyone outside the preferred mould. As Matthew says: “If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other also.” That’s not weakness — it’s wisdom. Hate never stops where it started. It consumes. It makes us wicked.
