It’s not a skill, but tolerance that Bleu can’t muster. Bleu lives with all the other surviving humans in a subterranean haven known as Northern Haven. As a kid, he’s drawn to the agriculture areas and develops a strong urge for more nature. He feels ill and jittery if he can’t get near the plants or Surface door. No one else has any issues with the enclosed, artificial living conditions except him.

When Tara learns her former student and friend, Mira, is in the same outpost. She's very excited to go give Mira a huge hug as it's been six months since they last saw one another.
Writing Wonders Day 4/15: Name one thing that’s really difficult for your MC but not other people.
Despite travelling all over her world, Miralees isn't very good at dealing with non-circus people.
She doesn't talk to them beyond a smile and a "thank you" for gratuities, they're just the audience. Not real people at all.
Now she has no choice and eventually defaults to her usual mode: everything is a performance.

5/5: This book was phenomenal! I finished it last night(or rather I couldn't put it down and had to read the last 70 pages in one sitting) and am feeling a bit book-hungover in the best of ways. This was a really strong debut overall. The pace was fast and action-packed, poor Panthea, Hilia and the others just couldn't ever cut a break! I loved the characterisation. Ash and Mart were probably my favourite side characters, especialyl Mart's banter was perfect. Meanwhile Panthea was the perfect struggling teenager, scrambling to find her place in a world that's a lot more cruel than she ever real...
