How to Opt Out: Lessons from 14 Years of Evading Surveillance Capitalism

Of the generation that grew up with ZDTV/TechTV "The Screen Savers" and "Call for Help." Expanding my social media presence and GitHub with projects.
I am a massive nerd trying find my true niche. I love to do reverse engineering, DFIR, malware analysis, and blue team opportunities. Learning #RustLang and loving it! Using it to write
-based forensics tools.
I used to work in Law Enforcement as a Blue Team DFIR specialist. I try to be funny, so please assume my tone is one of jest!
Over 13 years in #InfoSec #ReverseEngineering #Mentor #CyberMentor (depending, it's a VAST field!) I've done it all! My posts are my own and neither represent nor speak for any other person or agency.

Yeah so let's refocus on the real perspective here. It doesn't matter at all how good these models are at code or finding vulnerabilities if we destroy our ability to seek and share knowledge.

FACTS I learned last week about paper wasps:
🐝 Paper wasps exist. (we did not have paper wasps in CA).
🐝 In the spring paper wasp queens emerge and look for good places to build nests.
🐝 Paper wasp queens like dark sheltered places, such as, say, a pair of garden boots left out on the porch.
🐝 Unlike yellowjackets, paper wasps will usually leave you alone unless you bother them.
🐝 Putting your bare foot into a garden boot with a paper wasp in it counts as bothering. 😬

Since there is more awareness of neurodiversity, my employer was thinking about a diversity statement on website/careers page that (among other things) addresses this and maybe change the interview process a bit.
It might be just a drop in the ocean and only help a little, but I think it's a step into the right direction and I'd like to support this and encourage it.
So, #askfedi : what would actually help you (neurodivergent folks) during job interviews or at work in general? What could an employer realistically do? And what would encourage you to apply?
E.g. would a buddy help? More time/pauses? Online/(partly) written interviews? Dim lit, quiet rooms?
Anyone with a senior position open for a digital forensics, reverse engineering, tool making, IT borne, programming (can do Rust, Python, C/C++, etc., I've used a lot over the years) person? Very broad set of skills gained up to this point, and in general.
Fully remote preferred, as I'm in the Southern US and I know there's not much here. No issues traveling. Resume available after checking out what may be available to see if I qualify. Preferably looking for something small to medium. I have a great sense of humor, rather chill, and I get along well with practically everyone. I'm also really great at trivia nights!
Thank you.
