I just donated to keep the lights on and communications powered for WePlanet Ukraine. Can you chip in too?

This is an interesting angle - and something I have also been seeing in the Fix the News newsletter I get, which features continuously stories about the amount of clean energy that is produced and how that accelerates all the time. “The global economy is decoupling from fossil energy” so there is some good news too :)

@mistergenest Yes I also get the impression that Mistral is doing better

Expatriates are the focus of much research in global mobility because they are often strategically important and costly. But what about the host country nationals (HCNs) they work with? Despite decades-old calls for more attention to HCNs, they continue to be treated as back-stage actors in global mobility.

Read more in this blog about the article I published with Snejina Michailova and Anthony Fee: https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/journal/jgm/jgm-bitblog-working-expatriates-hcn-point-view

Ever heard of 'boomerasking'? Nothing to do with babyboomers, but with the fact that many people ask a #question just to be able to talk about their own experiences. And it's something that happens easily - really #listening to the other is not so easy! What is your experience?

Boomerasking: the sneaky, insincere way egotistical people dominate conversation

Asking a question only to frame it as a way to talk about oneself is irritating in the extreme, a new survey has found. But let us tell you what we think about that …

What is your go to Gen #AI assistant? I'm mainly using #Mistral and #Lumo - though I'm also trying to not overuse it due to the amount of energy AI uses.

Next week my new course is starting, and one of the things I want to do, is show how important #context is for when you manage people. One aspect is #culture. What works well in one culture, is not the way to do it in another. This week I had a fun talk with a Lebanese interviewee for my #research, and he commented on the less formal dress code here in Denmark - we were both sitting there in the Teams meeting in our hoodies :) Do you have any examples of how culture influences the workplace? #HR

Remember, the Holocaust didn’t start with gas chambers in Auschwitz.

It started with politicians dividing the people with “us vs. them”.

It started with intolerance and hate speech.

It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, and turned a blind eye.

Remember.

Even though we know that #mentoring works and is a great way to #develop future organisational leaders, many #organisations are not using it fully for (all) their #expatriates. This newly published book chapter reviews the role of mentoring in developing expatriates, with unique challenges such as #cultural differences, #language barriers, and geographical distance.

The University of Southern Denmark is developing its own cloud platform for teaching, open source. It reminds me to continue my journey of getting more ‘European’ with regard to the #tech I use. I am now figuring out #protonmail and Proton Drive, as alternative for #dropbox.
