All that being said, these tools have unlocked quite a bit for me; they’ve helped me close a six year gap in software development in a way that just didn’t feel possible before. That’s been incredibly fun and exciting.
I also have yet to experience an AI dev tool tell me, “I can’t do what you’re asking”. I wouldn’t mind stumping these things now and then.
Working with LLMs for a few months now I have noticed that they tend to default to adding code to achieve something, not removing it. Knowing when to remove code to achieve a result is a critical skill.
