Told my dad if he keeps raising his voice at me during political discussions I’m going to start calling him Old Yeller.

If you’re wondering how functional my family is right now… lol.

But he laughed, so I think it diffused some tension.

Nothing today could possibly top the time spent with Greta this morning🐾🫶🐾. It was practically a perfect start to an exciting weekend... maybe we'll even make it to the beach on Sunday.🌊

I follow multiple dog trainers and all of them contradict each other on all subjects.

1. Scatter kibble for enrichment / don’t frustrate a hungry dog.
2. Tire them out physically / don’t turn your dog into an athlete that needs extra exercise.
3. Expose them to triggers / don’t expose them.
4. Use high value treats / don’t, or soon you’ll be treating them with steak.
5. Be the alpha / “alpha has been debunked for years.”
6. Don’t let them dig or bark / “let a dog be a dog!”

I could go on.

My neighbor’s neighbor wanted to meet me today, and she seemed a bit high strung but nice. She was into meditating and nature and growing plants. I thought all was ok.

It took all of 20 min for her and my neighbor’s brother to bring up politics, conspiracy theories, make a few racist comments, use phrases like “we need a businessman to run the country”, and “this is the great awakening” and add some antisemitic wink winks.

Anyways. I’m back home with heartburn.

I’m embarrassed to admit, I fell for an AI video of puppies.

“A recently published study in The Lancet, the British medical journal, forecast that at present rates the defunding will cost 9.4 million lives by 2030, including 2.5 million children under the age of 5.”

Trump’s most lethal policy will almost surely be his 71 percent cut in humanitarian aid from 2024 to 2025.

My heart breaks for all of these abused beagles that were finally freed.

If Rio were a little calmer and more settled in, I’d foster or adopt one as quickly as possible. https://nypost.com/2026/05/05/us-news/1500-beagles-rescued-from-troubled-ridglan-farms-after-animal-activists-stormed-facility/

1,500 beagles rescued from troubled Ridglan Farms after animal activists stormed Wisconsin research facility

“I think they are loving the attention. I just know they know they’re safe,” said Lauree Simmons, president and founder of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, of the rescued beagles.

Babies!

✅ Finished my last service plan / treatment plan of the year. I had senior-itis feelings leading up to finishing it because it was the last one.

✅ Evicted the tomatoes and peppers out of my house again today. Somehow the 6 tomato plants I’ve had outside have survived 37F/3C temps without wilting. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Time to watch some cooking shows and call it a night.

That is the true definition of malware.

Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device without consent. At a billion-device scale the climate costs are insane. — That Privacy Guy!

Google Chrome is downloading a 4 GB Gemini Nano model onto users' machines without consent, with no opt-in, no opt-out short of enterprise tooling, and an automatic re-download every time the user deletes it. The pattern is identical to the Anthropic Claude Desktop case I wrote about last month, but the scale is between two and three orders of magnitude larger. This article does the legal analysis and, for the first time, the environmental analysis. The numbers are not small.
