My husband got work through a program to get disabled Veterans back to work... Where he was was abused and humiliated for being disabled, compounding his trauma to the point where he no longer leaves the house.

We need to stop with the platitudes and dog and pony shows and start getting serious about peace.

I used to work for this company that always made a big deal out of Veterans Day. It was all over their social media and they would get the local press involved for their events.

However, when my husband, who is a 100% disabled Veteran, was in the ICU with an infection, they were completely inflexible and I could not take any time off for his care.

How about we stop honoring Veterans with fluff and start honoring them with care, support and acting like decent people.

Maybe instead of reliving and celebrating the horrors of war with reenactments and platitudes like "we must never forget"...

How about we actually don't forget, do what is necessary to end the current wars, get civilians desperately needed humanitarian aid, stop the march to authoritarianism--which is what caused WWII--and start devoting our resources to saving the planet.

Is it asking too much to redefine remembrance by doing something useful?

The supreme Court is an absolute disgrace.

Justices Jackson, Kagen and Sotomayor are true heros. They show such grace and forbearance in the face of rank partisan hackery.

My husband's care is a lot. It is complex, exhausting, frustrating and it is 24/7/365. The only, and I reiterate, *only* help available to me have been the words "leave him," "think of yourself," "learn to be selfish," "save yourself and abandon him."

IMHO, the best way to honor the sacrifices of Veterans is to stop glorifying war and it's horrors and have the courage to work towards peace and equality.

Nothing grinds my gears more than events where Veterans are trotted out as symbols of patriotism and heroism. Makes me vomit a little in my mouth.

My husband is a 100% disabled veteran. He was treated as a criminal for self-medicating because he was unable to get proper medical care.

When we hit a low point, I took a day off work and called every Veterans organization and charity I could find a number for. Not a single one could/would help.
