Someone (who chose not to be tagged in this post) asked this question: How are some of us aware and appalled that this (misinformation) is happening and others just go all in with the conspiracies? What do you all think? What makes the difference? Please refrain from just calling people stupid, I know it can definitely feel that way, but we can do better than that.

I love that you said "utopias don't exist, but we do." I think one thing that gets people so discouraged is that after all the seeming progress we've made that we haven't reached a utopian state. We're humans, and it's not in our nature to thrive in a utopia. We need adversity, challenges, struggles and failures to advance, evolve, become better and stronger. It's also how we can empathize w/others who struggle & face hardships.

Perfect has got to stop being the enemy of good, especially with societal change. Susan B Anthony was racist, no way around it, most people were then, lots of people still are. Does that mean I should give up my hard won rights, because it wasn't done the right way? ABSOLUTELY NOT! What it means is that we all have to work towards more equality for women of color, as well as for ourselves. Utopias don't exist, but we do, we don't have to agree, to work towards better, we should just work towards better. It has always been the Apocalypse for someone, this is not new. Change isn't faith based, we know we can make positive change, if we work together, we will. Stop thinking it doesn't matter just because there are setbacks. Start thinking generationally, and not just for right now.

Today is the two year anniversary of my joining Mastodon and these past two years have been swell. This is home.

For those who don't know me, I'm Bob, a retired IT guy (yes yes, I know... bad karma). To my credit, I am slightly smarter than my thermostat and a bit brighter than a 6W bulb. I love damp weather. And if I could have just one superpower, I would like the power to change red traffic lights to green.

Anyway, I like to take photos. So here is a four and a half minute exposure of the Pacifica Pier. It's monochrome and I know that because I'm a photographer.
