While reading Victor Lavalle's The Devil in Silver stumbled onto this article from 2002 about how an adult home was having surgeries done on residents many of whom didn't understand what was being done or why. The state department of health didn't know this was going on until NYT investigated. https://www.nytimes.com/2002/04/30/nyregion/voiceless-defenseless-and-a-source-of-cash.html
Voiceless, Defenseless And a Source of Cash

Third article in series, Broken Homes, on adult homes for mentally ill in New York that have been plagued by neglect, malfeasance and death ever since state closed psychiatric wards in 1960's; focuses on unscrupulous operators, who devise schemes that exploit residents, stealing what little money many have by bringing them before swarm of outside providers for treatment that seems more intended to generate revenue from government programs than to improve well-being; photos (L)

@dirtyoldtown so Godzilla Minus One Minus Color is coming out this week. I still haven't seen it, what say you?
Hi, for whatever my two cents is worth, neo-Nazis fucking well should be cancelled, meaning there should be zero tv shows that air their phlegmatic regurgitations of the same beshitted tropes the Klan used to vomit out and nobody publishes those regurgitations and no social media platform that lets them post shit and they should be able to earn no money and should die of exposure in a fucking cardboard box, up to and including people who agree with those people and put them on garbage tv shows run by Glenn Beck, and also Glenn Beck. But that's me, I am super-outre cancel guy because I can't just learn to live with and respect the opinions of neo-Nazis.
