On the internet I talk mostly about justice, politics (both tactical & deep), design (primarily UX, IxD, and urban design), systems thinking, TTRPGs + other geekkultur, esotericism (magick, Pagan theology, and such), and other weirdnerd stuff like that

OK, I thoroughly enjoyed binge-ing ‘The Diplomat’ S2 but it was not quite the pure gold of S1.

I fear I am forever cursed to see proceduralism I fall in love with end up taking a back seat to drama.

Unsolicited product endorsement:

I recently went heavy on Ikea 365+ food containers because formats are constrained to prevent any lid-matching ambiguity.

Plastic, bamboo, and silicone lids interoperate with glass, plastic, and stainless steel containers with different heights but the same footprint!

(Yes, you can buy the components as separates!)

Ask an aikidoka whether aikido works in a fight and they will tell you a story about a time they did NOT get in a fight. Which is the heart of aikido.

(I am not that skilled a practitioner, but oh yeah, of course I have one of those stories.)

Guess what’s back?
Luck points, dice pools, and point-buy chargen are all great, but I think the cover illustration on ‘Vampire: The Masquerade’ is the single most important rules innovation in the history of TTRPGs

Today we honor a person who disobeyed orders and thereby saved the world

As ‘Scream’ is an arch deconstruction of the slasher genre
AND a scary actual slasher film
so ‘In A Violent Nature’ is a sincere art film
AND a scary actual slasher film

Know that there are grotesque kills. The film rescues them from silliness. Astonishing.

It just occurred to me that Heinlein’s best novel, ‘Double Star’, is a photo-negative version of Vonnegut’s best novel

A happy little surprise:

My Itch.io dashboard shows a surprising number of downloads of my play aids for @evilhat ’s weird, wonderful TTRPG Don’t Rest Your Head

(Now if I can only get Evil Hat to mass-manufacture specialty dice, which I could also use for Blackbird games!)
