Is there a capable format/software solution that allows the definition of light control effects synced with a music track that isn't a commercial proprietary thing exclusively used for professional stage lighting?
F-777 albums are on again today and for powerful EDM I'd LOVE to have a way to create lighting tracks that play perfectly in sync with mp3 or wav playback, allow for the definition of groups of light sources (based on physical arrangement), definitions of patterns that can easily be repeated on a per-bar basis, definition of light gradients that RNG can choose random values within, manual live control through keyboard keys (assign each key a light scene, then play the keyboard like a drum machine along to the music).
It would be lovely for "light" objects to be an open end, so something that you just pass RGB/White temp/brightness values and potentially a transition duration to and that allow for custom implementations to be written, such as JSON calls to Hue bridge on local network, serial port calls to DCC-Ex command station...
I've made an attempt at something like this in the past dubbed the Electric Loc Orchestra. This worked by hand coding every bar in the song using sequential commands only. I'd love to scale this up.
