An air purifier is just a fan with a filter on the intake...and a cheap wifi module?! Why would I want to put this on the network? All it can do is blow in one of three levels or not blow?

At least it seems the engineers were considerate enough to make it restart with previous settings when power cycling, so it may just be compatible with a dumb timed switch anyway.

Setting up Desktop PC at the new apartment...

Wifi antenna is still at the old place, so I laid an ugly cable across to the router until the next date I move things across.

The ethernet cable labeled "CAT 7" only does 100 MBit/s but the one labelled "CAT 6" does 1 GBit/s?

So I now had to install Google fucking Chrome to turn off hardware acceleration so that I can sync the wall lights behind the TV to colours on the screen and turning off hardware acceleration setting in Firefox doesn't work?!

Somehow my dad kept his old TV for a few years. It's a 1080p resolution Sony TV from 10 if not more years ago. When it came out, 3D Blu Ray was still en vogue.

The great thing is: it has almost none of the smarts and just boots straight to last input. So I connected a Mac Mini to it and that's my TV setup now 🤭

"Now that I move, I can take the effort to make a nice looking apartment thats sorta modern too, like the stock photos" always turns back into IKEA shelves and dropshipping brand lamps real quick because those things are available and anything neat takes 3 months to ship so you would have to dedicate to figure out exactly what is right but you need a functional solution now and once that is in place, why would you replace perfectly functional furniture after?

Why didn't I do this earlier?
Okay I know why I didn't do this earlier. Because I would've needed to back up all the data of the existing Win 10 to somewhere else. I just circumvented this now by swapping in an unused 256 GB SSD where the original purpose for it disappeared.

Now as to why I didn't just buy a new SSD for the laptop a year ago to perform this exact swap back then already... I don't know. Perhaps because at the end of the day I was doing all my productive work at a Desktop PC anyway and was always able to cheese myself around having to bring my own machine to presentations because there was always some machine at the destination capable of playing back PDFs

WOW DAMN I just sent the machine to standby or "suspend". Hit the power button again, login screen appears in under a second. Holy, I don't remember it being this fast.
