Alright, here's a newsletter post about my hike on Pogostan kierros https://buttondown.com/smallrapids/archive/hiking-the-pogosta-loop/
A mistake I keep making in Fastmail's web app: I'm trying to discard a draft but instead I end up deleting the e-mail thread
This was also the first time I used the shell gloves by Northern Lite (rip, the company went bankrupt). Wearing them over the insulated mittens was pretty good. Like with the socks, they got damp but not wet.

I wasn't sure whether to take along the Rab Cirrus Alpine insulated jacket because it's so heavy (531 g) but I'm glad I did. The weather was chilly and it saved the day. When I'm not moving, I get cold, so I need a warm jacket to put on over my other jacktes.

I bought it on a sale a few years ago and I don't like the color that much, but it has been incredibly useful. Plus the fit is just right for me!

This was the first time that I used the waterproof Sealskinz socks in trail running shoes for a full trip. The weather was rainy and it was great. Your feet will still get wet due to sweating, but much less so than without the socks.

Compared to shoes with Gore-Tex-like membrane, the socks are much easier to dry.

Here's the list of the gear I used on my hike of Pogostan kierros. There weren't many new things, I've used pretty much the same set for years.

This week I hiked Pogostan kierros in Ilomantsi in Eastern Finland. I'm going to write up a few notes about it, but meanwhile, here's a picture of lichen

It's well known that the IBM Model M keyboard is legendary for how comfortable it is to nap on, as Boxcat rival demonstrates.
