My echo just upgraded.

It has been offering the update after every command. “no.” I turned the upgrade prompt off. It kept pushing.

Finally, Amazon rolled out the update unilaterally and one day I was greeted with an irritating, uncanny valley voice.

Now that a few weeks have passed, I will admit the NLP capabilities are much stronger. That’s been positive.

But I don’t need a “Genuine People Personality”

If I ask for tonight’s low, I don’t need you editorializing the friggin’ weather!

If you’ve been applying endlessly and hearing nothing back, it’s not a personal failure.

The job market is soft, but more importantly, hiring is broken.

I spent time with recruiter Will Wegert unpacking what’s actually happening & what human paths still leak through a very inhuman system.
