Fictional Merlinesque Archytype. Very old.
A strange thing happened to me in the 80s and I’m hoping that social media can give me some information about what happened.
I was too young at the time to bother about the details or record anything for posterity, but now would like to know more.
If you ever go to Somerton in Somerset you should visit the Church of St Michael and All Angels. The carved wooden ceiling is stunning.
As I live mythical beasts, the highlight for me were the twelve(?) wyvern. Two of which are pictured here.
I saw this magnificent doorway in Langley, Somerset today.

I’d be remembered for some word I said, some thought immortal winged with passing breath.

Edward Capern, The Postman Poet. The handbell he took with him on his rounds, set into his gravestone.

My other charity shop books of recent trips out.
One of my latest charity shop finds.
Coin tree. Lyn Valley, Devon.

It certainly has that feel about it, but I think the church in the novel was the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Oare, a bit further to the east.
@NellytheWillow I love seeing (and especially finding) these tiles!

Bradworthy, Devon

Some of the superb medieval encaustic tiles made in Barnstaple featuring lion, swan and rose designs outlined in a very yellow shade.
