A small public gallery of photos of my bike, Elsie the polar bear. Elsie was built as a police motorbike and imported to the UK for evaluation by the polis, who decided BMW was their preferred choice. So Elsie was used instead for tyre evaluation before being sold. These were the photos from the dealers where I bought her. She still has the switch on her handlebars for lights and siren, sadly these have been removed.

It seems fairly clear now from the latest EHRC guidance that transgender people are not welcome in the UK. Which is "m'kay fine" on one level, namely the UK is a fucking fascist shit pit anyway. And not being welcome in a fascist shit pit means you're doing something right in life. It's obviously not fine on many other levels. This is the country Kier Starmer and Wes fucking Streeting have chosen to make. Everyone else needs to ask yourselves if you're happy with that. #transgender #LGBTQ

If there are any bikers on here who are either #LGBTQ+ or who at least consider themselves to be allies, who also live in or near-ish too South London or East Sussex. I am interested in setting up a #motorbike maintenance co-op or shared community group. The idea is to create a space equipped for maintenance, repair, rebuild, customize and generally care for our motorbikes. With tea and coffee and skill sharing. It would require a monthly sub. Does that sound feasible? #motorcycles #motos

2/2 In a tourist town we'll call Isthmus City for argument's sake, about 85% of Air BnB properties are bought and run by companies not based in, or even near, Isthmus City. (The numbers are real.) Housing cooperatives provide a model for small communities to take the initiative in preventing this. Instead of corporate landlords renovating old and derelict property for rent extraction, community co-ops do the same, but instead of holiday rentals the result is affordable housing.

1/2 Anyone want to form a housing coop with me, and help me raise the money to buy a building with 6 apartments in it, in the South of France? I've been writing a blog post about ways to fight gentrification and the answer is always "cooperatives." Beat the AirBnB/flipper crowd with the power of community. I met a lovely woman who was renovating a whole building to tourist rentals, when it struck me - communities could do this.

Glad that Scotland didn’t directly elect any Reform MSPs. The 17 or so who do get seats are thanks to the fairness baked into the Scottish voting system, where people’s second vote goes toward a proportional share of the 56 list seats.
