I've come up with my own 7 Natural Wonders of the World as well as a list for every continent after some major rabbit hole diving. You can read the first section (Africa) at https://mattpalmer.co/2025/7-natural-wonders-of-africa/

If you couldn't tell, I've been photographing a lot of Scottish mountains lately. Here's one from a rather turbulent day on a remote peak in the northwest highlands. There's something about the folklore and history of these spaces that deeply interests me. Images like these where you are battling the elements seem to capture a little bit of that feeling and emotion.

I've just released a free photography e-book Venetian Observations at https://mattpalmer.co/venetian-observations/

It features street photography captured over about 2 weeks in Venice last year, with fairly irreverent commentary given the seriousness of most of my other projects!

Hope you enjoy :)

Natural frame was captured in the beautiful Finnish swampland of Tunturiaapa. In winter they become a minimalist photographer's dream, although the snow-shoeing can be a bit tricky at times!

A lot to say in few characters; Lumen Australis is an Australian Photography Collective and you can download our first e-book Ikara \ Vulkathunha at https://lumenaustralis.com

It features rugged landscapes from the Ikara Flinders and Vulkathunha Gammon Ranges of South Australia.

Something brand new, the tree and ravens were captured in the highlands of Falls Creek here in Australia. We have very chaotic forests which means the fog is quite vital to making a clear composition. The ravens were captured in nearby trees as there are many found in this area, just not where you want them =P

No title yet...

It's been a crazy time which has affected my posting. Archie is settling in well, but we are training him to be better equipped to have alone time. And then there is the chaos of the world situation at the moment.

It's hard to find calmness. This image is called Jagged Mirror, which many of you will identify as being taken in Jökulsárlón Iceland. A heavily touristed location, but having visited it for over a decade, a pretty special one.

I'm posting 'Hold Your Head High' today, as we adopted a rescue dog Archie yesterday and this image reminds me so much of taking a proud dog on a walk. (I see a dog with its head pointed upwards and a little tail on the right, and its person on the left).

Hopefully he settles in well with Mieke and I and we spend many years together!

All Connected is a small section of Baron Falls in #NewZealand #MilfordSound

At the time I had a telephoto lens where one of the backing screws was loosening from time to time (replaced it after the trip) which was creating a bit of a soft-focus effect as the glass was off angle from the sensor a tiny bit, so I used that to pick out this small section of the falls.
