@boriel Hi, Just thought you might like to know how popular your ZX BASIC suite is on the (relatively) new ZX Spectrum Next. It's been used to develop a number of commercial games.

The Spectrum Next is an officially licensed by Sinclair, hotrod ZX Spectrum, with 512 colours, sprites, 3 display layers, 6 AYs, and 2MB RAM. It's a thriving community. Check out the group on Facebook if you Facebook.

@retrosteveuk Hi, Speccy Next developer here. Just connecting following your post on FB.

I'm not very active anywhere outside of FB at the moment. Just kinda seeing which Twitter alternative gets traction.

I like the federated idea of Mastodon but not yet found my people. Maybe this is the start.

Public service announcement: Five Guys are doing a limited edition Pistachio Milkshake.

30 years ago (September 1993) I bought the final edition of Your Sinclair magazine. At that sad moment I thought the #zxspectrum had reached the end of its life.

Little did I know that 3 decades later there would still be enthusiasts producing new games and software for a machine I fell in love with one Christmas day when I was 7 years old!

Gaiman: " If you really can't figure out which political party or which politician to vote for, just ask if they're on the side of libraries. Are they voting to fund their libraries? Are they voting to keep them free? Then vote for those guys. They're probably the good guys. And by the same token, the book burners, the book banners, they're probably the bad guys."

“I will always be on the side of the libraries”: A Conversation with Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman is a fierce supporter of libraries. The author of American Gods, Neverwhere, Good Omens, The Sandman, Coraline, and so many more has had a lifelong love affair with reading. And he credits librarians for fostering his curiosity about books and learning at a young age. Gaiman spoke with I Love Libraries recently about libraries, comic books, book banning in the U.S., movies, and more.

Threads is rubbish. They've banned @mentions now, so you can't reach out to anyone. There is no search, you can't choose who is in your feed. It's just a way for Zuckerberg to feed you what he thinks you should see.
A rare photo of Schrödinger's Cat...

This is hilarious. It appears that Twitter is DDOSing itself.

The Twitter home feed's been down for most of this morning. Even though nothing loads, the Twitter website never stops trying and trying.

In the first video, notice the error message that I'm being rate limited. Then notice the jiggling scrollbar on the right.

The second video shows why it's jiggling. Twitter is firing off about 10 requests a second to itself to try and fetch content that never arrives because Elon's latest genius innovation is to block people from being able to read Twitter without logging in.

This likely created some hellish conditions that the engineers never envisioned and so we get this comedy of errors resulting in the most epic of self-owns, the self-DDOS.

Unbelievable. It's amateur hour.
