I have the impression that primarily anglophone people don't read as much translated literature, because so much good literature already exists in their language, so this issue may not be as familiar within that demographic. As someone who did not grow up anglophone, I can tell you there is a world of difference between a good and a bad translation even when done by humans. Machine translations are not even on the scale.

@ChrisMayLA6 You left out that it hit the school twice. The spare Tomahawk was loitering in case one of the attack ones had failed. But the AI saw lots of activity around the school after the first strike so it selected the school for a second attack aimed at killing any survivors and rescuers. The chief exec and other directors of the AI company should be included in the list of War Criminals.

De Autoriteit Consument en Markt (ACM) is niet langer toegerust op haar kerntaak: de bescherming van Nederlandse consumenten. Dat is de belangrijkste conclusie nu de ACM de overname van DigiD-leverancier Solvinity door het Amerikaanse techbedrijf Kyndryl heeft goedgekeurd.

Het nieuws over die goedkeuring werd overal opgepikt. Logisch, want de overname van Solvinity is al maandenlang onderwerp van gesprek in de Tweede Kamer en ver daarbuiten. De zorgen zijn groot: met de overname van Solvinity door het Amerikaanse Kyndryl komt DigID, de dienst die de gegevens van miljoenen Nederlandse burgers beheert, binnen het bereik van de Amerikaanse overheid. Naast toezien op deugdelijke concurrentie en op specifieke sectoren, bewaakt de ACM ook de bescherming van consumenten. Burgers zijn consumenten en vice versa, maar uit het oordeel van de ACM blijkt dat de toezichthouder met een zeer beperkte blik naar zijn eigen taakopvatting kijkt. Journalisten gaan daarin mee.
