Mostly classic film with more than a touch of snark.

I’m not sure that #PreCodeApril will necessarily work on Mastodon, but just in case it does, here’s my Pre-Code list on Letterboxd. https://letterboxd.com/filmfan1971/list/pre-code-films/
Pre-Code Films

A list of American Pre-Code films. Additional suggestions welcomed, as the list is by no means complete. The top 100 are personal favourites / recommendations and are in approximate order of preference. Seen: 1 - 274 (listed alphabetically after 100) Unseen: 275 - 933 2021 was the first official "Pre-Code April" and Pre-Code April 2023 is currently in full swing. Check out #PreCodeApril hashtag on Twitter to see how it’s all going / join in.

Eddie Cantor and Ann Sothern in “Kid Millions” (1934)

Watching Ann’s early movies, it’s interesting to see that her comic talent was not recognized yet. She was given relatively straight roles, even in a zany comedy like this one. At least here they let her sing a bit.

The Harder They Fall (1956)

That ridiculously over-the-top gesture he's making is spoiling the drama/tragic look of the rest of the piece.

I love that everyone on this website said 'can we just not?' on April fools day, then we just didn't. No notes. Ideal social media experience.

Movie News - March 7, 1948

“Scotland’s single attempt to introduce “no smoking” in cinemas has ended in failure. Six months ago, Mr R J Pennycook began the experiment at the Tonic Cinema, Queen’s Park, Glasgow. Mr Pennycook had visited American cinemas and been impressed by the pure atmosphere and clean-cut presentation on the screen.”

It's not often that Lost Media from Star Trek finds it way online. Rob O'Hara found an amazing Nimoy hosted version of "The Menagerie" and has posted the host segments online for everyone to see.

Gambling House (1950)

This is awkward because it looks at first like he's in the same scene as the other two and about to hit her, but then you realise it's just too far away and he's in a different thing altogether. Very modern font at the top there.
