Sunday morning
a small dog's voice
is no surprise
old houses breath
in and out
after the heat wave
the trees join in
and the normally
unbehaved crows
hesitate
to disturb them

what was the point of all the hurt?
intentional demolition
mental states consumed by self hate
i see people through a lens of pain
faces and names i don't want to see
why do they have to follow me?

the streets are full
of people that don't know.
they dream, but don't know the cost
i have found that dreaming has a price
nightmares have a home
deep into the nights

with delusions held on VHS tapes
run away from the things you know
not all of it is supposed to have a home.

seems to be real,
something that came
from thinking my way out of hell.
i can see the city
as i'm standing at the edge.
i see my home,
the place i ran away from long ago.
i want to go back,
but i'm afraid to go.
would they want me
to come back home?

sets life alight

'So, I Had A Fall'

A sense and instinct for depth
and descent;
a lodestone for trouble.

To slip and stream,
hurtle towards the ache
like a plummeting myth:

Handmaiden of Persephone,
wing-shorn into
a quaking waste

into a land that shifts
like a fickle shadow;
like a true lover's whim
and indenture.

First through limbo,
then through treachery,
until there was no story left...

No gallant poetry.
No redemption.
Not even me.

and I carry that clarity like a staff.

The veil is thin.
The ache is real.

Red dusk-clouds
race above and below the moon
across a sky paling
from blue to shadow.

Stars begin to shimmer —
endless cosmic majesty
filling my tiny human heart
and kissing my soul a warm goodnight.
