Introduction time: I'm a novelist, a poet, and the co-publisher at Not a Pipe Publishing. I'm a public school teacher, proud union member, and education activist. I'll always fight for public education, but, after 21 years, I may not be able to keep teaching much longer. 😞 Ironically, burn-out may push me to do what I've never had the courage to do: write and publish full time. @robheverly "its really easy" isn't a good response to being tone policed and I've seen a lot of that on here. @chanda got death threats within days of being on Mastodon and it didn't come from her instance. And every time we talk about this we get a barrage of responses telling us that there's an easy technical fix and its somehow our fault for being on the wrong instance, or we should just be patient because its normal to experience racism on a new app?

What the actual fuck Tracy Chou's (@triketora) tweet was taken down on mastodon.social for "racism" and "sexism" because she wrote.

"for the last few years i've been almost exclusively reading books by authors who are non-male non-white non-straight (or some combination thereof) and i've loved it but now i'm thinking i need to return to straight white male authors to study the psychology of the rich white men who hold power over all of us
