@Gargron and then we wonder why decentralized social media has struggled to take off for half a decade. It's a pretty poor decision to limit our ability to actually find and interact with each other.

Sadly not really, still not a usable site for sex workers or nsfw artists, just allows 'nsfw' in the way places like DeviantArt do

You just got your wish. You can soon use Tumblr for the Fediverse because it’s adding Fediverse connection.

Tumblr, with 472 million registered accounts as of 2019, is an American microblogging and person to person communication site established by David Karp in 2007 & owned by Automattic, that also owns WordPress. Tumblr permits users to post media to a short-structure blog.

Please don’t miss the fact that Tumblr’s parent company, Automattic, owns WordPress which makes up roughly 40% of the internet!

With a budget that dwarfs @Gargron, we predict that #Tumblr will quickly become the #1 software used to connect to the #Fediverse / #Mastodon Network. Tumblr will be the 1st major corporate social media to implement

Matt Mullenweg is the CEO of Tumblr that made the announcement yesterday: https://techcrunch.com/2022/11/21/tumblr-to-add-support-for-activitypub-the-social-protocol-powering-mastodon-and-other-apps/

Oh, we also reached 4.8k followers on Twitter after eating a gamepad (see video)

Boosts appreciated!

Way too hard to find anything here. Searches just give me 30 recommended hashtags telling me there's no posts. My timeliness is empty. The popular page has shown the same four posts all day.

Place feels very empty despite being one of the biggest instances, not really a good experience so far as a social media site or forum

@lashman surely there's a more elegant solution? Wouldn't it be better if we could simply opt out of a post showing up in search? I think tags are great for categorization but not so much your primary means of searching things. Especially on a platform where tags must be included in the content itself (like here and Twitter) using up the word count rather than its own space (like Tumblr, Pillowfort, and various art sites)
@lashman I do appreciate not having random people jump in to argue about random topics I post about but personally not sure it's worth the tradeoff of making finding posts/content relevant to what I'm looking for significantly more difficult
I wrote a thread about Mastodon on Twitter, it needs to be read.
