#sunrise Apalachicola Bay
Scared up some sting rays and watched ospreys feeding chicks today. Pretty glorious day in Apalachicola Bay, just off St. George Island in the panhandle of Florida.
Went fishing today off the coast of Kaikoura. Sea perch, blue cod, with mollymocks and albatross in attendance. Swells were huge, so I ended up feeding the fish 🤢. Kaikoura peninsula in the foreground, seaward Kaikouras in the back. My thumb at the top!
Southern Crested Grebes nesting in large numbers at Lake Alexandrina, a wildlife preserve (Mackenzie District, South Island, #NewZealand). These birds spend their whole lives on the water—they are not good at walking—so the nests are effectively at the very edge of the water. Parents trade off sitting on the eggs.
