I (extremely rarely) draw things. | Pfp by @Mochii_Nostra on Twitter (not X :V)

So yes, I am blocking Laurie. I don't normally announce that kind of thing, but this is an exceptional enough case that I want to be clear about why.

And look, I get it. Blocking won't prevent slop vendors from bypassing blocks or otherwise scrape my feed. But *fuck* if I'm going to make it easier for you to undermine my artistic work.

So, hey. Following me is a privilege. I choose not to block you based on my belief that your following me will respect my consent and otherwise not be a net negative in my life.

If I know that you are feeding my work directly slop vendors trying to scab labor rights and destroy art, I will block you.

Microsoft attempted to render web standards irrelevant by sheer market dominance; Google attempted regulatory capture. Unfortunately, this means Google succeeded where Microsoft failed
The idea that competition drives innovation is... just... I mean, we've had neo-liberal ideologists breathing down our necks every waking moment since the 80s, and have you SEEN what passes for innovation lately??
The problem with neo-liberals is, you can point to this a hundred times over and they'll still argue that we simply haven't had enough of their medicine

In the end all that the "AI" dudes will have disrupted is the reliability, sustainability and trustworthiness of our software supply chains.

Fantastic.

have any of the infosec bois posted about how a fuckton of trivially weaponizable exploits dropped for a relatively recent previous iOS version and forced a bunch of users onto a version of iOS with age verification, or is the state of the discourse still just “Apple has the best security” and “it’s your fault for not upgrading to the latest version immediately”?

it’s always interesting watching AI grifters go straight from doing marketing for the worst LLM crap you’ve ever seen to “now I myself don’t like AI but”

all the mozilla drones started chanting that simultaneously a couple weeks ago and now there’s a mozilla dot ai mastodon account. weird how they keep making accounts on the fediverse, a place they keep shit talking for being too anti-AI

A bill that would require warning labels on Wikipedia is being heard in the Senate Commerce Committee today:

I just love* making late-night "this is not just unconstitutional but downright asinine" calls to my senator's office.

Stop the Scroll Act (S. 1885)

A bill to require the Federal Trade Commission, with the concurrence of the Secretary of Health and Human Services acting through the Surgeon General, to implement a mental health warning label on covered platforms, and for other purposes.

@zzt I don't like AI but how else am I going to fill my pockets from the latest tech fad? Produce a good product and service then become irreplaceable based on quality and reliability? Come on, that's unreasonable and needs me to do actual work and have ideas that aren't just making things cost more and run worse! Besides, don't you want to stick it to those fatcats in art, music, literature and journalism? Is it fair that they tell us no when we try to use their work for fascist propaganda? Of course not! And those journalists, reporting on our crimes! The nerve!
