An evolutionary advantage of having gay people in the population could be that, during times where food was scarce, they provided a safety net of people who weren’t burdened with raising children, who could then help those who *were* raising children. I see this playing out now. I can’t afford children, but I love babies. So I’ve been spending time with my friend and her baby/toddler and bringing him gifts and freeing her up to do other things.
