I write about health insurance and health care reform. Mostly at healthinsurance.org, medicareresources.org, and Verywell. She/her.
As of June, nearly 7,600 people in 4 states (CA, MD, MA, and RI) had been automatically enrolled in qualified health plans through the state-run exchange after being disenrolled from Medicaid: https://data.medicaid.gov/dataset/5670e72c-e44e-4282-ab67-4ebebaba3cbd (most states don't have automatic enrollment systems for this)

50 populations whose lives are better thanks to the ACA: https://www.healthinsurance.org/blog/50-populations-whose-lives-are-better-thanks-to-the-aca/ I wrote this a few years ago, but I've updated it to reflect current info.
My updated overview of Medigap access for people under 65 (Medicare-eligible due to a disability): https://www.medicareresources.org/medicare-eligibility-and-enrollment/medigap-eligibility-for-americans-under-age-65-varies-by-state/ When I first wrote this in 2019, there were 4 states with no plans available. Now it's down to 2. Still a lot of state-to-state variation. #HealthPolicy
More good Medigap news: Rhode Island now requires Medigap insurers to offer Plan A to disabled (under-65) Medicare beneficiaries: https://www.healthinsurance.org/medicare/rhode-island/#Medigap Prior to July, most Medigap insurers in RI didn't offer coverage to beneficiaries under age 65. #HealthPolicy
Oklahoma has joined a slowly growing list of states where people with Medigap have an opportunity to switch to another plan (with equal or lesser benefits) without medical underwriting: https://www.healthinsurance.org/medicare/oklahoma/#Medigap #HealthPolicy
Looks like Nevada's exchange is getting two new insurers next year: Imperial Insurance Companies and Molina https://www.healthinsurance.org/health-insurance-marketplaces/nevada/ #HealthPolicy
Updated my summary of state-funded health insurance subsidies to reflect additional benefits coming next year in CA, CO, and NM: https://www.healthinsurance.org/faqs/which-states-offer-their-own-health-insurance-subsidies/ Health policy folks, please let me know if I'm missing any others! #HealthPolicy
Some Georgia updates: CMS has said that the transition to a fully state-run exchange will have to wait another year. For 2024, carriers have proposed avg rate hikes that range from 6% to 40% https://www.healthinsurance.org/health-insurance-marketplaces/georgia/
Two insurers in Colorado (Denver Health and Kaiser) have agreed to honor accumulated deductible/OOP costs for people transitioning from Friday Health coverage: https://www.healthinsurance.org/blog/how-friday-health-plans-insolvency-will-affect-policyholders-in-five-states/
New Mexico updates: State-funded cost-sharing subsidies getting enhanced for folks 250%-300% FPL. And 490 households transitioning off Medicaid had received a free month of beWellnm coverage as of July: https://www.healthinsurance.org/health-insurance-marketplaces/new-mexico/
