A good example of this is my most recently, currently at 3,000+ shares and still climbing (see screenshot).
I could not post this informative post on Mastodon Dot Social. The 500-charecter limit would not allow for it, and the best I could have done was a screenshot.
But I digress. I am moving my reserved account to @Linux because 1) it is outside the United States and 2) it will better give me the freedom to both express and inform people.
It's awful when you try to warn people about the increasing dangers of Facebook, and then the site you do that on, crashes.

Oops.
It is not the 1st time, I have found something I shared could not handle the traffic.
The post was shared over 2,000+ times with nearly 2,000 likes, and it was only growing.
I think Misskey, and generally Misskey forks, start to take a toll when you're trending.

For those who are on Misskey, this is how a thread looks like on Mastodon (see screenshot).
I'm not trying to navigate anything. I can easily scroll up and down without issue, and that would include most of any comments to the thread too.
CherryPick a fork of Misskey, does a nice job of this too. See 2nd screenshot.
On Mastodon, you can quote basic text using the > symbol

You can do that on Misskey and Cherry Pick too, but you can take it further.

On Misskey and Cherry Pick, you can perform a direct quote to source, like the one shown in the screenshot. Sadly, for Mastodon users, all you'd see is a URL.

Ironic, since this is my reserve account. My primary account is @[email protected] which uses Cherry Pick, a fork of Misskey, and not Mastodon.
