This is the slope of a weird underpass that has a sidewalk to nowhere. It starts and ends in places where pedestrians can’t get to. And there’s this fabulous colony of moss that reminds me of glacier mice. I wish I could get closer but I had to take this picture from the car. (Don’t worry, I wasn’t driving)

This friend swooped right over my head this morning--not so close I had to duck, but close enough that, startled, I did. Eir talons were full of long grasses & pine needles that fluttered behind em like ribbons. E landed up in the nest e shares with eir mate (just behind this "window" in the branches).
I was so startled (e had apparently been watching me silently for a bit from a nearby snag), but like a nerd I threw up my camera anyway to try & catch a (very blurry) photo.
