The LERU (League of European Research Universities) Public Engagement focus group brings together experts and practitioners on Public Engagement from universities across Europe. One of our main objectives is sharing best practices in engaging the public at a local level, with approaches covering science festivals to research funding and citizen science. In January 2025 we launched our monthly scholarly blog series on Hypotheses to share our discussions with the international research community.

Today’s launch of the ENGAGED Roadmap @[email protected] marks an important step forward for public involvement in open research in Ireland. At its best, research is shaped by the society it seeks to serve. #LetsGoEngaged #publicengagement #openresearch

Giving back to Calgary: an article was published today about my satellite research of the city!

It is important to me to use my knowledge as a geoscientist and environmental data scientist to help make our new home better and greener. Thanks to LiveWire Calgary for the interest in this topic!

Susan Solomon, a trailblazing scientist, recently received accolades for her groundbreaking work on ozone depletion. Her book, "Solvable: How We Healed the Earth, and How We Can Do It Again," highlights how we can tackle environmental challenges through evidence, public engagement, and political will. https://cleantechnica.com/2026/03/05/a-pseudo-book-review-solvable-how-we-healed-the-earth-and-how-we-can-do-it-again/
A Pseudo Book Review: Solvable: How We Healed The Earth, And How We Can Do It Again - CleanTechnica

Drawing from decades of research and teaching, Solomon argues that environmental progress follows identifiable conditions. Her framework rests on what she calls the three Ps: a threat must be personal, perceptible, and practical.
