Our house and this tree were in the shade, but the sky was so sunny and bright. I tried to capture that contrast as best I could. I kinda like the way the neon sky does that.
(Bonus points if you can guess who my favorite surrealist painter is)

You ever get those weird effects when you stare at something really bright, where you get weird shimmers and colors at the edges because your eye is kind of overloaded? And each eye sees some smearing because of tears or weirdness in your eye shape?
I tried to capture that as best as I could. View the stereograms to really capture the effect.

@zalasur I think that these high profile, dramatic problems in D.C. are spurring on some well-coordinated alliance-forming and civil resistance movements. This is seriously overdue for the U.S., and I hope it lasts long after Trump is out of office to take on the real corruption (bribery and insider trading, etc) and push for important changes like universal healthcare and serious climate action.
Things are extremely bad right now, but I'm optimistic that people are actually mobilizing.
My New Years resolution is to do a new painting every month. Here's January! (It's based off a photo from Facebook, with permission. But I can't find the old post to give attribution)
