Absolutely wild to me that hunger, homelessness, poverty in general exist. Star Trek TOS would have an episode where the crew meet a planet where all the aliens need a fruit to survive, and there's starving aliens, and then Kirk discovers there're warehouses full of these fruits and like "wait, why not just let everyone have some fruit?" "Oh, well we have to trade beads for fruit, see, and they don't have any beads :)"

One day I will learn to check the weather forecast of my destination before leaving my house without a jacket.

"It is 40 degrees here at my house; surely it wont be chilly 500 km away and four days from now" -- My dumbass brain

I’ll say it again. Paint your face in red, white, and blue like it’s the 4th of July. Carry American flags or “Don’t tread on me”. Play music and dance. When Fox is having to broadcast footage of guys in black balaclavas teargassing folks in stars&stripes paint with old glory in hand, it’s gonna get awkward.
hot girls on mastodon.social in your area
Vancouver, BC is such a nice city. It's a city that people live in, which is a really hard vibe to, like, explain any further than that. I've walked around the downtowns of a few US cities, and they feel like places people go to work, and then they go back home, away from the downtown area. But Vancouver, /people live here/. It's a really nice feeling.

There's this Indian Burger place just down the street from my hotel and I finally got to trying it out and y'all....

This is better than burritos.

It's a burger, but you get that delightful explosion of Indian flavors with every bite????

These people are geniuses

I gotta say, even just /being/ in Canada is so nice. I know I'm going back tomorrow but hot damn there's a sort of immunity and distance I can feel on this side of the border that's like .... Hard to explain.

Its a relative lack of tension and threat.

And there was a new iteration of this game, "enhanced with AI" to enable more "real" and fluid social dynamics and conversations.

But that mechanic of "the party members lie, and you can call them out" on it was so clumsily implemented that the characters were basically unknowable amnesiacs with how drastically they changed.

I had a dream that there was this really deep character driven game series, and one of the core gameplay features of it was that your party members would lie to you, and if you pay close attention to their actions you could learn more about them than just what they say, and you get bonus rewards if you can subtly mention to them the truth.
