These storms in western/central Illinois are not fooling around. One large tornado was confirmed earlier, two right now at least have funnel clouds.

KoHoSo: We Give Gold Bond Stamps

Gold Bond Stamps sign - Canton, Texas - June 10, 2014Credit unknownI've seen recently that certain companies are supposedly trying to bring back trading stamps. I cannot imagine how that would work anything like the tradition of saving the stamps in a book and then going to the special stamps store to see what you can get. It's probably going to be some sort of app (with over 9000 trackers in it) in which you can then redeem your "stamps" for something that will be shipped to you. Perhaps this is to appeal to smaller chains and individual businesses that don't have their own privacy-draining apps or loyalty cards?Assuming it comes to pass, this seems to be an odd bit of nostalgia to resurrect. Trading stamps began their decline in the wake of the 1973 Oil Crisis, so we're getting to the point where, at best, the youngest people that would truly remember them would be in their 50's. Then again, there's so many fools in this world that will mindlessly put another app on their phones that maybe it would work. If I'm right, personally, this is a bit of nostalgia on which I will gladly pass.

KoHoSo: Hillcrest Bowling of Columbus

Hillcrest Bowling - 3440 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio - June 9, 2007Credit unknownI cannot find exactly when it happened, but this bowling alley has since closed. The sign is gone, and the look of whatever the building is now would make me want to just keep driving while making extra sure the car doors are locked.

Poor Blue doesn't get to be in the basket of the cat tower as much as she would like as Alexei has decided it's also his favorite place to nap in the living room. This morning when we came home from getting an oil change for Bluebaru II, she was using it to look for birbs and judge the neighbor cats.
