I heard it said some Americans justify that they cannot protest against the Trump government because Washington DC is too far, there is no space for parking cars, and they can be shot dead by police, in contrast to South Korea.

Are they really saying that? This claim makes me think of lots of things.

Peace is not an idle fantasy drifting above the harsh realities of international relations,
but the outcome of another calculation: a decision not to perish together.

The price of the ignorance that dismisses this calculation as mere fairy-tale rhetoric will, in the end, be paid in blood and in the unraveling of societies.

Of course, that price is not paid by those at the top.
