This is what you get from asking people to fill in their country of residence using a form that has no validation.

My resolution for 2026 is to go get the right tool for the job in fewer than... (counts) 11 attempts.
I don't know what people do with the emails I send, but it certainly doesn't involve reading them.

Today I learned that "rUK" is not a typo, it means "the rest of the UK".

It's HMRC-speak for the UK excluding Scotland.

This has potential.

rMerge - where I always resolve a merge conflict by ignoring your changes

Where do you store important emails?

For many years I kept important emails in the cloud and nowhere else. A few years back I switched to a local storage as the primary storage, cloud as backup.

A recent hardware mishap meant I lost the local store. Disaster.

Rather than work on recovery, I'm leaning into it with a new mindset: emails are transient and anything important belongs in my notes.

Watch for my next update in which I talk about recovering lost notes after a hardware mishap.

With their aggressive CoPiLoT marketing and opt-out nonsense Microsoft seems determined to make *this year* the year of Linux on the desktop.
