Born at 314ppm CO2. Escapee from Twitter, and now from home.social too. 🫀 Tofu-loving woke ex EU citizen. Retired hi-tech entrepreneur, once focused on future cities/buildings, climate & UBI, now keen on saving the planet and democracy. I dream of the day when I can return my focus to my first loves.

If you don’t like #politics, you probably shouldn’t follow me. 😁 Though I do also have a #creative side, and I'm a #maker too.

the fraction of communication we experience β€” across all media, excluding what is explicitly fiction β€” that is in one form or another a lie is extraordinary.
I'm trying to settle a debate I keep having with privileged white men; In times of crisis, are humans generally:
Kind hearted & helpful towards victims & eachother
Predatory & more willing to cause harm to survive
Poll ends at .

"It would better for your career if you shut up about climate change" a co-worker said to me in 2019.

This was the moment I realized a career in tech was servitude. You're expected to shut up about the horrors and partnerships with big oil to collect your paycheck.

Funnily enough we have air quality sensors that clearly indicate that we shouldn’t fly at all

It's hard to really grasp how much AMOC collapse would change everything.

I've been aware of this for a while (heck THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW(2004) is based on it, but notably not scientifically accurate), but...

"Asked to explain the silence,Fuller points to the media executives and press barons, keen to stifle awareness about the climate crisis so they can retain their luxury lifestyles. But when it comes to the government’s silence, he puts it down to simple cowardice in the face of a resurgent far-right"

This is the UK, but just as easily describes the US.

β€œOnce men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”
- Frank Herbert, Dune (1966)

For anyone dealing with the freezing rain now: if you’ve got a heat pump with a horizontally mounted fan, randomly check on it to ensure there’s no ice buildup on the blades. I’ve seen ours become very unbalanced before; it only requires a little bit of hot water on the blades to correct it. Shut the unit down before doing it though. #ONStorm

One of the most important tools you can use on the internet to protect yourself from online security and privacy threats is… an ad-blocker.

In this deep-dive (and one of my favorites), I explain how ad blockers defend against surveillance and malware. I also have plenty of ad blocker suggestions for you to consider!
