Last night's dive. I am counting this Rostanga Rubra as the first photogenic nudibranch sighting for me in Newquay this year. (I am excluding Jorunna Tomentosa and sea lemons). It was sat on the top of a rock in under a meter of water, so the small amount of swell was setting up a tricky surge. #nudibranch #snorkeling #newquayunderwater #sealife #cornwall #newquay #underwaterphoto

The long period swell is (finally) dying down, the North Atlantic has been firing solid storm swell throughout the whole winter season and it is only just starting to settle. The sea is slowly warming up on the South Cornish Coast hovering around the 12 degree mark with 6 meters of visibility. Inachus crab holding tight to its protective snake-locks anemone friend. The second photo is close up of an edible sea urchin (Echinus esculentus). Up close and it is possible to make out its rows of tube feet between its defensive spines. Quite pretty under macro conditions. Finally a fan worm, lovely orange colour. #sealife #urchin #cornwall #ocean #inachus #snorkel

Easing back into the snorkeling now that spring is here. Apart from the hail and poor visibility is was enjoyable. Ocean on the south coast of Cornwall near Mevagissey is around 10 degrees, but at least there is a little sun now.
