Just a quickie - Daily #Wales is now mostly over on BlueSky for the simple reason that the app is easy to use and the posts are a bit of fun (as well as Wales being wonderful) done before work.

I cannot be arsed to mess about with a clunky, misbehaving app. I love the idea of the Fediverse but ease of use is … something else.

Once, we had summer - so Daily #Wales doesn’t see why it shouldn’t reappear here.

(No, it does not always rain in Wales)

Daily #Wales hasn’t been so daily lately - bogged down (almost literally as it’s been incredibly wet). But it’s stopped raining and it is a beautiful autumn. When it’s not raining…
@Valent Rveryone in the community knew there was water tips were unstable. When they asked the NCB to remove them, the response was a threat: ‘we’ll just close the pit’. Almost the whole village was dependent on its existence.

@AbramKedge My mother (a teacher but not working because of a toddler) wouldn’t let us go back to our village school after lunch. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for parents of small children, especially in vulnerable communities.

And so bloody unnecessary. Even the kids in Aberfan knew there was water on and under the tips - it used to run out - but the NCB? Nah.

@LShashaty I remember it too - I think lots of us smaller people did, because it happened to people like us or our friends and siblings. As village kids, we did a trick and treat collection for the support fund on Halloween - our suggestion (well, the older ones), endorsed by the parents.

Daily #Wales. Cofiwch Aberfan.

On this day in 1966, the waste tips began to move and slid down to the village, burying the school where the day had just started.

We were miles and miles away and I was small, but my parents were teachers they never forgot this day.

Daily #Wales with a ray of sunshine for the start of the week

(Though I feel the contrails are saying something - pass my my foil hat)
