You thought you could escape our attempts at reach out to you this Valentine’s Day? We won’t give up that easily ❤️

Happy Valentine’s Day!

🥈 @KalmarunionenDM ends 2025 as the 2nd best CTF team in the world!

That makes it three years in a row in the global top 3:
- 2023: #3
- 2024: #1
- 2025: #2

Staying up here is hard. The field keeps getting sharper, the big CTFs keep getting harder (LLMs are luckily still struggling with some types of challenges), and December is always brutal. We fought until the very end and are proud of how the season played out.

Huge respect to r3kapig for an insanely strong year and a well-earned #1 - that was some serious consistency across the toughest events.

For us, this season had a bit of everything: long nights, on-site + remote meetups, clutch moments, mistakes, recoveries, and a lot of learning. Older players still sweating, newer players stepping up, and the team as a whole getting better every event.

Thanks to everyone for making every weekend harder than planned - here’s to 2026!

Thanks for an awesome #Hackceler8 - it was really fun this year!

It really came down to the wire at the end, hope to see you all again next year!

🏆 We did it: @KalmarunionenDM just won ASIS CTF - our 4th ASIS WIN!
It came down to the wire. Other amazing teams like @maplebaconctf, @shellphish and especially BunkyoWesterns and r3kapig pushed us right to the last minute. That pressure is exactly why we are playing the hardest CTFs in the world.

This is our fourth ASIS win, and it's a reminder that the top is never guaranteed. The field keeps getting sharper, and staying there takes full focus, deep teamwork, and a lot of grit.

It's been a minute since our last update. Even over summer break we stayed busy - we played the @defcon CTF Finals in Las Vegas, with teammates on-site and a Danish venue. Huge thanks to The Tech Collective for hosting us 🙏

What makes this season special: our seasoned members are still all-in, and our younger talent is levelling up every single event. That blend of experience and growth is exactly what we hoped for when we started Kalmarunionen - upskilling ourselves while building a pipeline for others.

🔜 What's next
- Google Hackceler8 Finals, Mexico - we're among the top 8 and can't wait to live-hack on stage.
- Copenhagen meetup - another big team session to keep the momentum rolling.

A special shoutout 🙌 to our sponsors whose support drives our meet-ups, learning initiatives, and participation in international competitions: Industriens Fond, JN Data, Dubex & ICSRange.

🥈 2nd place at #GoogleCTF 2025!

Kalmarunionen fought hard all weekend and landed a strong second behind Friendly Maltese Citizens - who almost full-cleared the entire CTF. Huge props to FMC - that was seriously impressive - see you at the Hackceler8 Finals in Mexico City later this year 🇲🇽

It’s been a wild first half of the season, and Kalmarunionen currently sits at World #1 on the global CTF leaderboard. Let’s gooo!!

🎯 Triple CTF Weekend in Copenhagen! 🇩🇰💥

This weekend, @KalmarunionenDM gathered physically for another meetup at Eupry in Copenhagen for an intense and fun-filled hacking meetup - joined by several of our teammates chiming in remotely! 🧠⚡

While we were initially prepping for two bigger CTFs that unfortunately got postponed, we quickly adapted and dove headfirst into three other competitions instead:
🔹 Break the Syntax CTF
🔹 Dam CTF
🔹 San Diego CTF

The result?
🥇 We full cleared and won Break the Syntax CTF, Dam CTF, and San Diego CTF - a triple win that kept the flag bell ringing non-stop all weekend 🔔💥

A big thanks to #Eupry for hosting us - we had a blast solving challenges together, sharing knowledge, and pushing each other to think deeper and faster.

Weekends like this are part of what makes #Kalmarunionen special: a mix of collaboration, curiosity, and fighting spirit - and a chance for aspiring members to challenge themselves alongside some of the best CTF players in the world.

With the bigger CTFs postponed, we got an opportunity to slow down and dive deeper - sharing knowledge, solving problems together, and enjoying capturing flags. We play to win, but we also play because we love the challenge 💪🧠✨

✨ Special shoutout 🙌 to our sponsors whose support makes these meetups and our CTF journey possible:
Industriens Fond, JN Data, Dubex, ICSRange
