Depending on the room I’m in I’m either an immunologist or an engineer. Doing science at NIH. views my own.
Being a PI is just trying to stay on time with your deadlines but then having to track down other people for their deadlines so much that you miss yours.
We had an important experiment on Thursday and cracked a new vial of an antibody — which didn’t work. Re-tested Friday, and we were sent a bum antibody. That wasted so so much work 😭 science is cruel sometimes.

Tech: “You got an early start today”
Me: “Well when I ask my lab to do crazy I tend to try to participate in the crazy”

Attempting to get some experiments done for a manuscript revision and tenure advisory meeting next week.

I guess here’s my intro — I’m a scientist who used to play across hay bales for fun growing up & got 2nd place in a high school county science fair one time. Now I do research for a living, focusing on #immunoengineering & how our immune cells could be targeted not just for fighting viruses but healing wounds. NIH-er, tenure-track, not a prof — yes I “left academia”. Skip to 53:30, you’ll get the gist: https://youtu.be/426T6VgPvz4
